Minor Injuries Unit

The Minor Injuries Unit is a nurse lead service with radiology facilities that provides assessment and treatment for minor injuries and illnesses including:


  • Sprains and strains
  • Wounds: that may either need steristrips or suturing
  • Cuts, bruises, grazes
  • Rib injuries
  • Dressing of wounds
  • Minor head injuries where there has been no loss of consciousness 
  • Upper or lower limb injuries
  • Fractures that would be managed, immobilised, and referred for further orthopaedic review at Arrowe Park Hospital
  • Tetanus immunisations after injuries
  • Minor eye problems
  • Local skin or wound infections 
  • Burns and scalds
  • Bites and stings
  • Low impact road traffic accidents
  • Removal of foreign bodies from eyes, ears or nose
  • Removal of rings, earrings and studs
  • Insect and animal bites.  


IMPORTANT: If you are experiencing severe chest pains dial 999 or go to A&E


Opening hours


The Minor Injuries Unit is open from 9.00am to 9.00pm 7 days a week, including all bank holidays.
