12 –18 May 2014 is Dying Matters Awareness Week

12 –18 May 2014 is Dying Matters Awareness Week, and its aim is to change public knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards dying, death and bereavement.

Talking about death doesn't bring it closer – its about planning for life. It allows you to be in control by putting things in place to make it easier for those you leave behind and making your views and wishes understood.

No matter how are old you are, here are a few things that you can do this week for yourself or with those that you care about:

  • Write your will
  • Record your funeral wishes
  • Plan your future care and support
  • Register as an organ donor
  • Tell your loved ones your wishes
  • Dying Matters is a broad based and inclusive national coalition of 30,000 members. Its mission is "to support changing knowledge, attitudes and behaviors towards death, dying and bereavement, and through this to make 'living and dying well' the norm".
