Breathewell and Singwell with Wirral Community NHS Trust

Wirral Community NHS Trust is helping people with COPD with a brand new FREE support programme Breathewell –Singwell. (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).

The new support programme has combined a stop smoking and singing initiative to provide an all-round beneficial experience for anyone with COPD.

You don't need to have the best voice - the benefits and results will surprise you! You will,

  • improve your breathing and general wellbeing
  • receive support to stop smoking
  • meet new people, relax and unwind
  • take part in fun and uplifting activities!

Sessions will take place every Wednesday from 26 November for 12 weeks, 2.00pm - 4.00pm, Birkenhead Community Fire Station, Exmouth Street, CH41 4AX.

Senior Health Advisor, Safwa Alsaden said: "There have been previous groups that hold singing sessions for people who suffer from COPD, but we are offering a stop smoking service that will run side by side with the singing programme.

"Stopping smoking will really benefit anyone with COPD, and when you couple it with singing, you not only physically improve, but you can get more active, gain self-esteem, and benefit from group / peer support.

"The programme is also open for family members and carers to come along to as well. They will be able to access the stop smoking service and benefit from group support."

People who attend the sessions will have access to weekly motivational support, nicotine replacement therapy*, and carbon monoxide tests.
