Former Brookside star Louis Emerick joined Wirral Community NHS Trust staff and volunteers at the Floral Pavilion last week, to celebrate their 2016 staff awards.
There were 11 categories, including Volunteer of the Year, Exceptional Care and the Patient's Choice award, in which patients, families and carers nominate individuals or teams for outstanding care and a fantastic patient experience that went beyond their expectations.
The nominations told many inspirational stories, and a panel of public members chose Heather Farrell from the trust's Livewell Team as the winner.
Susan Jones, who nominated Heather, said: "She has the uncanny ability to turn every negative into a positive. She is always there to encourage, uplift inspire and support each and every individual. She never gives up on anyone."
Louis hosted the evening, and as ambassador for the charity 'Balls to Cancer' was delighted to present the Prostate Cancer Nurse Service with the Patient at the Heart Award. Seven members of staff also collected awards for 25 years' NHS service.
Finally the event would not have been possible if not for sponsors Hill Dickinson, LT Print, Lorne Stewart, Assista Consulting and U Print.
