Local nurses help you to spot and stop pressure ulcers

More than 300 people took the opportunity to talk to local nurses from Wirral Community NHS Trust whilst at Asda in Birkenhead. The nurses were able to give advice and information on spotting and stopping pressure ulcers as part of International Stop Pressure Ulcers day (21 Nov).

People were given information about who is most risk and shared simple steps that can be taken to prevent pressure ulcers developing.

Sandra Christie, Director of Quality and Nursing at Wirral Community NHS Trust said: "Pressure ulcers are a serious, distressing and can be painful but the overwhelming majority of pressure ulcers are preventable. We were delighted that so many people stopped to talk to us and we hope to help more people recognise when they are happening, know the risks and know how to prevent them.

It was a great success and we were able to signpost at least two people who talked about having symptoms to where they can get more help so hopefully they are now on their way to recovery."
