Local Nursing Team shortlisted for National Award

Local Nursing Team shortlisted for National Award

Wirral Community NHS Trust’s Integrated Continence team is celebrating after being shortlisted in the Nursing Times Awards for their innovative approach and enhanced care provided to children across the borough.

The specially trained continence nurses work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure that that the correct care and support is given to each child.

With continence problems affecting children and their quality of life, the knowledgeable and passionate team focuses on assessing the child to ensure that the child and their parents are given advice and treatment based on eliminating or improving the condition rather than dealing with the consequences.

John Lancaster, Wirral Community NHS Trust Director of Operations and Performance said “This is an amazing achievement for the whole team. The Trust only started delivering the service a year ago and since then we have seen a dramatic reduction in patient waiting times, as well as a better quality of service, focused on the child and their family. The team has done a remarkable job and this recognition is well deserved.”

The awards recognise the immense talent, professionalism and innovation among the nursing workforce. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 31st October 2012.
