parkinsons awareness week 16-22 april 2012

Parkinson's Awareness Week - 16 - 22 April 2012!

#parkinsonscure

Parkinson's disease affects the way the brain coordinates body movements including swallowing, walking, talking and writing. Things many of us take for granted.

Research is helping us to understand Parkinson’s better and better but we still don’t have a cure and we don’t yet know why people get the condition.

Our Parkinson’s Disease Specialist Nurses work closely with the charity Parkinson’s UK to give people with Parkinson's, their families and carers information, support and medical advice.

This year, Parkinson’s UK is using Parkinson's Awareness Week (16-22 April 2012) to launch a major new research study called Tracking Parkinson’s.

Investing £1.6 million into the research, Parkinson’s UK is aiming to unlock further secrets about Parkinson’s and to boost the chances of finding a cure.

You can get involved!

  • take part in a research study, an event, donate vital funds or share your story
  • Support Parkinson’s UK to raise awareness by following them on Twitter and adding the ‘find a cure’ twibbon
  • Get in touch with the Wirral Parkinson’s UK group
  • Make a donation

Visit www.parkinsons.org.uk - let's find a cure and improve the lives of everyone affected by Parkinson's!
