There’s still time to quit this October

During October, smokers in Cheshire East have been encouraged to join up and quit together for Stoptober 2016 – the National stop smoking challenge from Public Health England. Stoptober has driven almost 1 million quit attempts to date, with many more taking part this autumn.

Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust’s Livewell Team who have recently started delivering Stop Smoking support in Crewe and Macclesfield welcome the campaign and hope that it helps motivate people to stop and think about their smoking habits. Smokers can make an appointment at a Livewell clinic and receive free one to one support, motivational advice and nicotine replacement therapy.

Research shows smokers are four times more likely to quit with the help of a trained NHS advisor. To sign up to Stoptober or for support to stop smoking contact Livewell on 01270 376642 or call Kickstart on 0800 085 8818.

Craig Elkerton, Livewell Stop Smoking Co-ordinator said; “We’re delighted to be able to offer stop smoking support to local people in both the Crewe and Macclesfield area. Our new clinics are filling up fast and we urge people who are thinking about quitting to get in touch.”

Paul Jackson, Stop Smoking Service Manager at Kickstart said; “Stoptober is a great opportunity for the smokers across East Cheshire to quit together alongside friends, family and thousands of other people in our area.

“Quitting at any time of the year is the single best thing you can do for your health and with the help of our local stop smoking services.”
