Parkinson's Disease Nurses

Parkinson's disease is a progressive and fluctuating neurological condition affecting movement such as walking, swallowing and writing.


The main symptoms of Parkinson's are tremors, rigidity and slowness of movement.


As well as affecting movement, people with Parkinson's can find that other issues, such as tiredness, pain, depression and constipation, can have an impact on their day-to-day lives.


About the service


With the right care and treatment the symptoms of Parkinson’s can be controlled to help maintain a good quality of life.


We provide expert care for patients with Parkinson’s Disease (either in the community or in a clinic), as well as offering practical and emotional support.


We provide:

  • Assessment and development of care and treatment plans suited to your particular needs
  • Help to better understand your Parkinson’s diagnosis
  • Guidance on managing medication
  • Support to help you reduce your symptoms through self-care
  • Support and education for carers, families and healthcare professionals
  • Appropriate referral to other professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists and Physiotherapists. 



Our Parkinson’s Disease Nurses support people following diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease. If you or someone you care for has been diagnosed Parkinson’s Disease you can contact the service on 0151 514 6685


We also accept referrals from GPs, consultants, all health and social care professionals as well as voluntary organisations.


Opening hours:



Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm (excluding bank holidays).


If you suspect you have Parkinson’s Disease then see your GP as soon as possible for diagnosis.
